About Relic photographic

Oh hey! So glad you are here, really.

We grew up. Had babies. Then, somewhere along the line, life happened: a heart broke, a family split. And suddenly the dream of photography re-emerged as a single mama’s shout of faith. Bank accounts were drained. A camera was purchased. And hope blazed the way.

We believe that the most beautiful things grow out of the darkest places. A business was born. Sisters combined. And it didn’t take long before Relic blossomed into this beautiful, creative, wild garden that we would both tend together. Our photographic journey has been the most fulfilling adventure of photographing the most intimate and beautiful parts of people’s lives. Life truly is art. And art is our life.

We are: Artists. Alaskans. Free spirits. World travelers. Story tellers. Coffee Addicts. Camera junkies. Adventurers. Best friends. And sisters. We were born and raised in Alaska and mostly grew up in the sticks of Willow. Our parents loved us and were champions of the entrepreneurial spirit.

Photography was a trail blazed early on. When the other kids wanted to be doctors or fire fighters, we wanted to work for National Geographic. We have countless childhood memories of tacking up sheets for backdrops, hiking through Hatcher Pass with 35 mm cameras, and playing photographer. Never in a million years did we guess that one day, decades later, childhood dreams would be realized.

Our story

Get to know me quiz style!

Relic is not about conventional photography. We are not backdrop and lights and starchy photos kinda girls. We live in Alaska, the most beautiful place on earth. It is the stuff of dreams for most photographers. But our goal is bigger than expansive views and towering mountains. It's not just about picture-perfect photography. Our goal is your life as art.

We want you to feel every square inch of an image. We want it to whisper in your ear, wrap it's arms around you, call you by name. Photography should be the story that we fail to put into words. We believe that you are that story, and it's our job to get to know you, read between the lines, and paint the picture of you, your love, your story, your soul.

The Quiz Results Are In

A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.

It's all about curling up with a good book on a rainy day. Slow Saturday mornings with my husband and three kids. The look of my daughter twirling in sunshine. The sound my son makes when he sleeps. I think the best photos are made in the in-between moments, the bat of eyelashes, the wind whipping through hair, laughter unrestrained.

As you can tell, I'm a sap. Everything makes me cry. I'm an artist at heart. An introvert. A lover. A dreamer.

Hello, I'm Hanna. I love a good party, laughing until I cry, a dark sky sprinkled with stars, strong coffee, the sound of my children laughing, cold sheets, giving a holler at the top of a mountain, bacon wrapped dates, and the weight of my camera in hand.

When I'm not taking your photos and editing like a crazy person, I'm probably at home snuggled with my man or running amuck with my seven children. My life is certified crazy. I wouldn't trade it for a single thing.
