I knew of Kelsie before I met her. She is famous in the area as a savvy business woman and I had seen her presence online so I immediately recognized her bright smile when I walked into her business establishment – Revive Day Spa in Wasilla. Within minutes of talking to her, one thing was abundantly clear: to know Kelsie is to love her. You guys, rarely do you encounter such a complete ray of sunshine. This girl can light up a room.
Apparently Kelsie also knew of our work and had always wanted a photo session by Relic. So naturally, plans ensued shortly after our connection was made. One thing I LOVED about planning this session was Kelsie’s complete trust! Instead of talking about her vision, she actually asked me what I was craving to shoot, what MY vision was and basically set me free to be myself creatively. She knew that if I was passionate about the set, that the outcome of her photos would be what she ultimately wanted: inspired work. I love that she understood that creative concept and celebrated the artistry in ME to paint a picture of HER.
We ended up shooting in a half-frozen Eagle River waterfall and gosh. I just can’t explain how much fun we had. This girl was so tough, up for any and all of my shenanigans and even jumped in the icy water at the end. The results? Well, I’ll let the photos say it all:
