Gracie specifically wanted a Turnagain Arm session. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and my 1.5 hour drive to our location was stunning. But by the time we both arrived at the shooting spot, the wind was trying to prove her point. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve shot many weddings and sessions on the arm and it’s almost always windy. But this was next level, blow you over type of wind! Fortunately Gracie was up for an adventure. We ended up foregoing most of the ocean/mountain views we came for and stuck to the most sheltered areas we could find. And the results? Gosh. I LOVE this set.
Being flexible in sessions and having an open hand when it comes to photo expectations is so important! Alaska is Alaska. She’s got a moody, stubborn mind of her own! When we learn to dance on her shifting carpet instead of fight against her…that’s when the magic happens.
