Gosh, senior sessions. Have we mentioned what a favorite they are? We are photographers and mamas and have all these feels.
The photographer heart in us loves these kids for the FUN; the willingness to climb any rock, run through fields of flowers, jump in rivers or lake, let loose and just let us lead. Alaska is a playground for the wild-at-heart and we love to play!
The mom is us can’t get enough of the love story of it all. Senior photos are about capturing that moment when toes are circled around a precipice, right before the jump into an unknown future. We step in right at the most exhilarating part, when a person crosses that threshold between child and adult. You can practically feel all the excitement and fear and wonder and grief and joy. We see ourselves and we see our children reflected in our lens and that connection, that bittersweet love story we all are part of, that’s the most rewarding part for us.
Kara’s lovely mama joined us for the session and I couldn’t help but grin when I would catch glimpses of her in the corner of my eye, silently cheering Kara on in all the ways a mama can. Kara danced, twirled, laughed, smoldered, smiled before us and I’m sure mom felt all the things. She must have watched and wondered how it could be already, that her little girl was this beautiful women, this actual mountain flower.
Love is beautiful.
